“Betwixt and Between” exhibition enters into the creative realms of six Korean animation artists through printed works and short films. It will exhibit a few of the artists from "Awesome Blossom" animation exhibition at the Korean Cultural Center as an extension along with two other artists.

The 6 masterminds spawn characteristic figures with simplified lines that are inspired by the artist's desire to succinctly express the junction of their thoughts and emotions. These lines that are presented as pop art also convey the essence of fine art. These two facets have linked arms in the minds of these six featured artists to create such characters. Every spiritual and emotional encounter in each of the artists' lives are turned into these simple lines of characteristic expression seen in their works of art.

As viewers are introduced to these animation characters they will be able to distinguish the emotional, psychological and philosophical aspects of the artists’ daily lives.

이번 전시는 문화원에서 앞서 전시한 "Awesome Blossom"에 이어지는 animation전시로 이번에는 Betwixt and Between 라는 제목 아래 재능있는 한인 젊은 작가들의 animation 이라는 특수 분야와 순수미술과의 연결고리를 특색있게 보여주고 있습니다 특히 이 전시는 상업미술과 순수미술의 교묘한 틈새 장르위에 있는 작가들의 작품을 다시 조명하려고 합니다. 한국 문화원에서 보여준 전시에서 더 나아가 또 다른 면을 부각시켜 지금 주류사회에서 일어나고 있는 젊은 새대의 새롭고 다양한 예술세계의 한면을 이해하는데 도움을 될수 있다고 생각합니다. Rheeway Galerie에서는 CA 주류사회에서 활동하고있는 두 작가를 이번 전시에 더 합류시켜 한인사회에도 이 젊은 작가들이 가지고 있는 역량을 소개 하려고 합니다. 앞서 문화원에서의 전시에서도 언급한 바와 같이 Animation 이 단순한 만화라는 통념의인식의 한계를 넘어 작가의 인생과 재능, 감각, 인생관등이 녹아있는 작품이라는것을 느끼실 것이며 그들의 작품속에서 현재 일어나고 있는 순수미술세계를 주도 하고 있는 방법의 하나로 서로가 가지고 있는 장점들이 이용되고 있음을 여러분들도 공감할수있는 장을 열어보일것입니다.
